Therapeutic Mentoring
At DBA Project, we understand that for many children and young adults facing personal challenges, mentorship can be the catalyst to transform their lives from hardship to hope. Our one-on-one mentorship program is designed to offer a structured, supportive, and guiding hand that can often be missing from their journey.
We hold the mentor-mentee relationship in the highest regard. It forms the cornerstone of our work and is rooted in trust, understanding, and mutual respect. Together, we are dedicated to improving educational achievements, expanding life opportunities, and enhancing physical and emotional well-being.
We believe that by providing a safe and nurturing space for our young people to explore their strengths, weaknesses, and passions, they can connect with themselves and cultivate a sense of self-worth. This newfound confidence empowers them to tackle challenges through problem-solving, critical thinking, and embracing a positive outlook on life. Through this individualised attention, we learn, grow, and thrive together.
Crisis Intervention
We recognize that often, those who most need help may not realize it. Addiction and criminal activity can cloud a person’s perception of reality, leading to complex challenges. A loved one might be unable to envision a way out, grappling with feelings of shame, embarrassment, or emotional pain, which can exacerbate and perpetuate destructive patterns of behaviour.
At DBA Project, we specialize in guiding individuals through the intervention process. We understand that transformation is a journey, not a sudden event. Our approach involves close collaboration with family members and exploring diverse strategies to facilitate the acceptance of help.
We create a supportive environment that nurtures a fresh understanding of one another, encourages open communication, provides education, and offers love and support. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to rehabilitate themselves, and we are committed to helping people achieve this.
On-the-job Training
Through our extensive network of like-minded partners and organizations, DBA Project offers unique opportunities for young people to gain invaluable real-world experience and knowledge that will leave a lasting impact long after their training. Our commitment to collaborating exclusively with those who share our dedication to youth development sets us apart.
Our comprehensive approach includes building interpersonal skills, boosting self-confidence, enhancing clear communication, fostering workplace relationships, and adding value wherever possible through initiative and problem-solving.
We understand that networking is a vital life skill that can open doors professionally and personally. On-the-job training provides an authentic glimpse of real-world employment, allowing our young people to discover their unique identities beyond their peer groups.
Education
At DBA Project, we offer a holistic approach to education, catering to various learning needs and ambitions. With our in-house tutors, we provide educational programs ranging from functional skills to G.C.S.E's, designed to unlock broader life opportunities.
Our functional education model is adaptive and tailored to the individual's specific requirements, encompassing personal management, social development, and healthy living. We meet our students where they’re at, helping them achieve tangible outcomes that empower them to progress and fully engage in the challenges they face. Functional learning serves as a lifeline for those with complex needs and offers an alternative educational pathway for those who may not thrive in traditional classroom settings.
Additionally, we're dedicated to supporting individuals in obtaining their G.C.S.E qualifications in Maths and English, often essential for employment opportunities. By providing an inclusive and non-judgemental space where learning is engaging and effective, we emphasize the value of knowledge, making it an enjoyable journey towards achieving educational milestones.
Inspirational Talks
At DBA Project, we offer impactful and inspirational talks for children and young adults that aim to challenge beliefs, boost confidence, and encourage them to believe they can achieve their dreams. Our insights encompass less conventional paths and ignite fresh perspectives, ideas, and motivations. We connect with diverse audiences, from primary school children to teens who engage in petty criminal behaviour to those on the edge of more serious criminal activity and gang affiliation.
Our collective experiences, spanning from a career criminal to a professional footballer and everything in between, enable us to relate from a place of authenticity. We understand the complex choices young people face in today's ever-evolving landscape, each one accompanied by its consequences—consequences we've either lived with or continue to navigate. We know what it takes to transform one's life and pave a meaningful path forward. We wear the T-shirt, and we’re dedicated to making a positive impact.
Workshops
At DBA Project, we offer highly engaging workshops that foster open communication and connections among participants within a secure and supportive environment. Our workshops are a unique opportunity for children and young adults to delve into their emotions and past experiences. They gain valuable insights into their decision-making processes and learn how to make more informed choices for their future selves as we explore essential themes such as self-worth, mental and emotional well-being, and the dynamics of forming meaningful relationships with others. This understanding of one’s self empowers individuals to pursue their personal, professional, and social goals effectively. Our workshops provide immense value and facilitate a sense of community, mentorship, and the opportunity to build lifelong friendships.
Community Support
We can help support various communities, businesses and institutions to reach young people authentically and effectively; we speak their language, know their home lives, and can bridge the gap that is often a barrier to communicating with them. Our recent work with the Metropolitan Police is a testament to this, where we have joined a coalition of the best community organisations to help train and support new recruits, particularly around ‘stop and search’ as they begin their journey in the police force. We will listen to your needs and create a tailored plan of action that will help you establish the best possible relationships with the children and young adults that you wish to connect with.
Trauma Management
At DBA Project, we understand that embarking on the journey of addressing trauma can feel daunting, but the decision to seek help is a commendable first step. Often, the underlying cause of destructive behaviour is rooted in unprocessed trauma, which necessitates healing before a person can fully embrace their potential and become the best versions of themselves.
Our approach is tailored to the unique needs of the individual, providing them with the tools and resources that align with their personal circumstances. Trauma management strategies typically encompass counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, and participation in support groups. Education about trauma and its impact is also an integral part of our process, empowering those we support to move beyond a victim mentality and take ownership of their actions. We recognize that each case is distinctive, and we proceed at a pace that is both supportive and manageable for the individual.
