Our Story

Growing up in North London, our founders, Lee and Daniel, were well-known to each other through their mutual love of football; like every young boy, they shared dreams of success. However, life led them down very different paths…

Lee's exceptional talent on the pitch earned him an apprenticeship at Millwall F.C at just fourteen years old, eventually leading to a career pinnacle with Arsenal. Daniel’s story was different; also a promising footballer, he faced adversity when an injury ended his career at around the same age. Having taken a huge blow to his hopes and aspirations, Daniel found himself venturing into a life of crime in search of an alternative path—one which he lived until his early thirties.

Years later, a chance encounter rekindled their friendship. Lee was back in their hometown, driven to inspire young people to dream, believe, and achieve, much like he did. He was inspired to find that Daniel had transformed his life and was now dedicated to helping others avoid the same pitfalls as himself.

This reconnection sparked an idea. Lee and Daniel shared stories about the lack of positive role models and opportunities that had shaped their lives and how this had created a sliding doors moment for them. From these discussions, DBA Project was born—a platform that empowers children and young adults to overcome adversity and recognise that, ultimately, they have autonomy over the path they choose for themselves.

As co-founders, Lee and Daniel bring lived experiences from both sides of the spectrum. Lee's success as a professional footballer inspires, and Daniel's journey of recovery showcases the power of transformation. Together, they are committed to lighting the way for the next generation to discover their dreams, believe in themselves, and ultimately achieve their aspirations.

“You are always one decision away from a totally different life.”
